All Good in the End
Two quick tries rocked Biggleswade but class told in the end. Rushden rocked the visitors with two tries in the first five minutes but there after it was all Biggleswade.
On a sharp clear day with a blinding cross field Sun the match was put back to a 3pm kick off. Rushden had installed new state of the art led floodlights and wanted to try them out. They got their fingers burnt.
The home side opted to kick off so had the advantage of the slope. A fumbled collection let to a first try in moments of the start. The second soon followed so that Biggleswade really felt that they had their backs to the wall.
But these were the only tries Rushden scored as the Biggy machine got out of second gear and started to show what it could really do.
Captain Jake Deveraux led the way scoring Biggleswade’s only points of the first half after sustained pressure. They had weathered the storm, kept Rushden at bay and were intent on showing what they could do.
It didn’t take long after the break before the tries started to flow. Biggleswade had far too much pace out wide so Biggleswade used it to full advantage.
Winger Will Evans making only his second appearance of the season showed his speed as he galloped clear down the wing from a long way out
there were other tries for Jensen Beal, Ben Yates, Tom Anderson, Del Tribeck.
Sam Wood added three conversions.
The Rushden coach was incandescent on the touchline berating his side for not adding to their try tally after the first two.
The reason why not was simple. Resolute determined defence from all the Biggy team just defended like demons and kept them out.
Next week it is St Ives at home who are high scorers and concedes. It could be exciting.
