Age Grade Player Registration:

Age Grade Registration is an annual process for players between U6 to U18. RFU Regulation requires players to be registered within 45 days of the start of the season or from first joining the club.

A players' parent/guardian is required to register or renew their child on an annual basis via the RFU's Game Management System (GMS). Visit Community Rugby Help for guides on how to register or renew your child and to submit a help request.

Using the online affiliation and sign up process in GMS removes the need for paper forms, reduces administrative burden, increases data accuracy and places the ownership/update of data with the parents which complies with the RFU Minimum Data Standards.

U17 playing with seniors

The player must complete a form before any activity with ver 18s can take place.  This must be done each season

This has to be completed for all 17 year olds playing adult rugby whether they are playing in an adult team or just training.

A copy needs to be kept by the club to be with the player at all times and one needs to be returned to safeguarding officer to pass to East Midlands

This must be done before they are cleared to play Adult Rugby.  Teams have been disciplined for failing to complete the form.

Adult Player Registration:

From the 2024/25 season, all players in all formats of the game (including non-contact from April 2025), will be required to register themselves annually to play rugby for RFU member clubs. In previous seasons, player registration had been done by clubs on behalf of their players.

Players will register using their Game Management System (GMS) account and clubs will review and approve their registrations. This is in accordance with RFU Regulation 13 & 14.

If you have never been registered with a club in England, you will need to create a GMS account and register to play.

If you have been registered to play in the past, you will already have an existing GMS account. You will need to log into your account and follow the steps.
