The countdown is on!

Our minis, youth and senior sides are desperate to get back to training and playing rugby, and there is just a fortnight to go before some restrictions are lifted and they can get back on the rugby field!

Our players have been setting themselves fitness challenges, to keep their team spirits high, and get themselves rugby ready. They’ve also been recruiting - spreading the word about just how much fun the game is and how great it is to be part of Biggleswade Rugby Club.

“We know our players and coaches can’t wait to get started - we’ve missed rugby so much, and it will be fantastic to get the club buzzing with the sights and sounds of rugby again,” said Teri Taylor, Biggleswade RUFC’s Vice Chair.

“We also would love to take this opportunity to invite new people to come and try out rugby,” she added. “We have mens, ladies, minis and youth sides, and rugby is all about inclusivity. Whatever your experience or fitness level, we’d love you to try us out! Now is the perfect time to start or restart playing - because of Covid restrictions, the focus is on fitness and skills and new players or those who have been out of the game for some time might appreciate the staged and gradual return to playing the full game.”

Training starts again from Monday 29 March, with the potential for matches (with adapted laws) a month later, and then full contact training and matches in the coming weeks as the country begins to open up more and allow more activities to take place. This will all be in line with the RFU’s Return To Rugby Roadmap (below), which itself is dependent on how the country progresses through the Government’s recovery roadmap. Covid safety protocols are in place and we will keep you informed of how we will be reopening our club facilities safely and in line with the regulations.

MON 29 MAR - Biggleswade Ladies are the first to get back on the pitch (Training nights: Mondays and Fridays)

TUE 30 MAR - Biggleswade Men are next (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

WED 31 MAR - The older Minis and Youth sides (U10s and above) (Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings)

SUN 4 APR - All Minis and Youth sides start training (U6s and above) (Sunday mornings)
