Biggleswade U15s lost out in today’s Beds Cup final, but did themselves proud in a real battle with their Ampthill U15 opposition.

The game was a repeat of last year’s final with Ampthill retaining the trophy.

Brad Green, one of the Biggy coaches, said: “Sadly, we left ourselves too much to do going in 17-0 at the break.

“The players really gave their all in the second half, with our forwards having a real battle with the opposition and we managed to get a try from a line-out maul, but we just couldn’t add to it.

“A mistake on our try line let Ampthill in for a late try to make the final score 24-5 to them, but we are proud of every one of our players for their fight and determination.

“It just shows how these are the two top teams in Bedfordshire. Well done to all the players.”
