We’ve had a brilliant return to rugby so far, with members old and new turning up and having a blast finally training again following our enforced break because of Covid restrictions.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for ensuring that the return is safe by adhering to all the guidelines laid down by the Government and the RFU - they are for everyone’s benefit and sticking to the rules means the path back to ‘normal’ rugby can run smoothly!

We would also like to thank members for paying their membership fees in this ‘stop-start’ year. We have had massively reduced revenue because of the pandemic and without these fees we would simply not have been able to continue to operate. It would have been a devastating blow to our club and the community if we had been forced to fold as a consequence of this terrible and damaging coronavirus.

There are however, some members who have yet to pay. It is important to remember that although members have been unable to use the facilities during lockdown periods, we have still managed to offer a considerable number of training sessions. Membership fees pay for all the hidden costs of running a club (such as floodlights, building and grounds maintenance, etc) and paying membership in such a difficult year has ensured that the club is here for everyone’s future use. We are one big family and we share the responsibility for keeping Biggleswade Rugby Club alive and thriving.

The club is fully aware that there are many people who have been hit hard financially by the events of the past year, and - as is always the case - we are always here to talk to and to offer help. If any member has difficulties in affording our fees, then please speak to Charlotte Tysom, our membership secretary (this will be in the strictest confidence).

Please note that in order to be fair to all the members who have paid, those who haven’t do need to contact Charlotte, and until they have done so, they will not be able to play for or train at the club (with immediate effect).

To discuss any aspect of membership, you can contact Charlotte on 07305 572509 or membership@biggleswaderugby.co.uk. She will also be available in person at the club on Tuesdays between 6:45pm and 7:15pm and on Sundays between 9:30am and 11:30pm
