Five youngsters from Biggleswade Rugby club have been selected to showcase their skills in a rugby programme designed to identify the stars of the future.

Biggleswade RUFC hosted a Bedfordshire Developing Player Programme (DPP) Festival on Sunday, where their U13s squad was assessed (alongside teams from Bedford, Ampthill, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Luton).

Following the festival, Finley Taylor, Joshua Curson, Ashton Rastrick, Dylan Robinson, and Jack Williams have all been invited to a further DPP session next month.

The DPP is a national programme managed by the RFU and delivered in partnership with Northampton Saints Academy. It aims to instil the values of SPIRIT at all levels: Sportsmanship, Pride, Innovation, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.

The Biggleswade players will be hoping to progress further, take advantage of some top quality coaching, and potentially represent their county in the traditional Beds gold shirts.

Biggleswade’s U13s head coach Ian Robinson said: “Our club was delighted to host Sunday’s Festival and it was great to see our entire U13s squad all putting in 100% effort. Our rugby family of players, parents and coaches are so proud of the five who have been selected to go further, and we wish them the best of luck.”
