In order to protect all our members, players, coaches, family, friends and the wider community, Biggleswade Rugby Club remains temporarily closed.
The club has made the decision NOT to restart minis and youth rugby this Sunday (Jan 3). Nor will minis and youth training take place on Wednesday Jan 6 and Sunday Jan 10, but over the next week or so we will review the situation and update you with any changes.
Although age grade rugby is one of the few activities permitted under the current Tier 4 restrictions we find ourselves under, after careful consideration we believe it would be wrong to hold such training at a time when some schools are closed and coronavirus cases are at an alarming level.
We appreciate that this is frustrating for our younger players, who we know are desperate to get back to playing rugby.
We will continue to review the local and national situation and take further guidance from the RFU, and rest assured that we will get things up and running as soon as we are satisfied that it is the safe and right thing to do.
There has been no change to the current rule that adult training or games cannot take place under Tier 4.
Please note: outdoor exercise IS now permitted on the club’s Sheep Walk grounds, but members can only exercise with ONE other person (with groups of two not allowed to arrange to be ‘accidentally’ exercising at the same time!). Social distancing and hygiene guidelines must be adhered to, members will have to carry out their own safety checks of the ground before exercising, and we would also politely remind all members that there is strictly no car parking on the Sheep Walk track nor in front of the club car park barrier (which is currently still closed).
We will continue to adhere to, monitor, and update all our Covid-19 hygiene and safety protocols and urge all our members to keep safe and keep strong!
