Rugby at Biggleswade RUFC is back!
Rugby training at the club will resume (in Covid-safe adapted formats) from Wednesday 2 December across all age levels.
Now for the really good news: the RFU has just confirmed that the Government has approved its submission for clubs to also return to 15-a-side contact rugby from this date (with some adaptions, including a ‘no scrums or mauls’ rule).
More details are still to be issued in the next day or so regarding changing rooms, spectators and clubhouses etc.
In summary - and as long as the current level of risk remains the same and rules are not changed - adult, youth, and minis rugby training, (including contact where age appropriate) is back on at the club from Wednesday.
Coaches are fully aware that players have had a month away from training and will be working on fitness, body conditioning and tackling technique, particularly for the minis and youths, to ensure that contact is introduced or reintroduced sensibly and safely.
There is still a way to go before we are back to the ‘normal’ rugby experience and we will let you know more about what facilities will be open and available as soon as we have clarification.
We will also let you know about the prospect of playing contact friendlies against other clubs in the future, although the club will decide this on a timescale that puts players' safety first.
We’d like to take this opportunity to welcome members back and to thank all our coaches, players, members, parents, and supporters for your continuing support, care, and commitment to safety.
See you on Wednesday, and beyond!
