It was the last Inner Warrior fixture of the season today, with five Biggleswade Women testing their mettle and battling hard.
Lucy, Elsinea, Naomi, Teri and Dorota flew the flag for Biggy (wearing March strip today), in a combined March Bears/Biggleswade/Hitchin/Saffron Walden/Cambridge 2s and Cambridge Uni side. They lost out to St Ives (who were joined by Ely and Cantabs players).
It was a tough start, as the Bears struggled to gel with such a mix of players who hadn't played together before, conceding half the tries in the first quarter. Once they gained some shape and structure they managed to defend better and slow down the scoring rate. Final score was 43-5 to Ely.
There were some great tackles and runs from our Biggy representatives - a few who are tending some scrapes and aches from hitting the hard ground. A spot of rain and a softer landing would have been nice!
We've included some great pics here from St Ives' fantastic photo album (click this link to see the full set).
Biggleswade Women train on Tuesday evenings and welcome women of any age, ability, and skill levels.
