Biggleswade 2nd XV 20 - 17 Cuffley 2nd XV

After their league game against Hitchin 3rds was called off due to the opposition being short of players, Biggleswade were pleased to set up a replacement friendly against Cuffley 2nds on Saturday.

In what was a real game of two halves Biggy were 17-0 down at half time, having struggled to cope with the directness of the Cuffley pack, which dominated at the scrum.

A half time reset and a desire to get greater width on the ball saw the home side begin to get a grip on the game. Injuries to Biggy props saw the game go to uncontested scrums, which nullified some of the visitors’ key strengths. But it was also Biggleswade’s fitness and ability to find space that saw them fight back and take the lead, which they held on to at the death, sealing their comeback 20-17.

After the game the club hosted a Quiz Night. With more than 50 people from various Biggleswade teams participating, it was a great success, with some amazing dinosaurs being fashioned from kitchen foil in the creative round!

The event, which raises money for club funds, is planned to be an annual one so be sure to enter a team next year.
