The 2nd team travelled down to Weston on Saturday for their second league game of the season.

Atrocious conditions [quote: “it was raining too hard to get muddy!”] meant the game was very stop-start. The small pitch favoured the home side’s forward-focused play with their bigger pack. Weston got an early score to go 5-0 up and then managed to control proceedings. Biggleswade found it hard to get their backs into space and get tempo into the game.

Despite the weather, Biggleswade battled through the game and had several opportunities at the start of the second half with breaks from Tom Anderson and Lex Jackson in particular. If either had been successful, the outcome may well have been different, but instead Weston utilised their pack size to bulldoze over with a maul in the final moments of the game.

This result means the 2nd XV have one win and one loss in their league campaign so far. They are next in action at home to Old Albanians Grizzlies on Sat 9 Oct.
